Lawn Care Bench is operated by SuiteThink Inc. (“we,” “us”), Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada. We handle personal information in line with Canada’s PIPEDA, CASL, the US CAN-SPAM Act, and applicable US state privacy laws (including California’s CCPA/CPRA). We collect as little as we need.

Information we collect

  • Email addresses: from newsletter signups, listing claims, and business-to-business outreach to addresses businesses have published publicly.
  • Directory data: business names and public phone/email/website, compiled from public sources (OpenStreetMap and businesses’ own websites).
  • Account data: your email for passwordless magic-link sign-in, plus session data.
  • Payment data: handled by Stripe; we do not store full card numbers.
  • Assistant messages: questions you type into our on-site assistant (used to improve answers; scoped to the site).
  • Analytics: usage data via Google Analytics (GA4), which uses cookies/identifiers.

How we use it

To operate and improve the Service: publish and maintain the directory, send the newsletter and (with the appropriate consent basis) B2B outreach, process claims and payments, answer assistant questions, and understand usage. We do not sell your personal information.

Sharing

Only with service providers who help us run the Service (e.g., Stripe for payments, our email provider, hosting, and Google Analytics), under their own terms. Public directory information remains public by nature. We may disclose information if required by law.

Email & marketing (CASL / CAN-SPAM)

Every marketing email identifies us, includes our physical mailing address, and has a one-click unsubscribe that we honor immediately (we keep a suppression list). We rely on consent or the applicable legal basis (e.g., CASL’s conspicuous-publication exception for business addresses) and stop on request.

Cookies & tracking

We use essential cookies for sign-in/sessions and Google Analytics for aggregate usage. You can control cookies in your browser and opt out of GA via Google’s tools.

Your rights & choices

  • Canada (PIPEDA): access your information, request correction, and withdraw consent.
  • US state laws (CCPA/CPRA & similar): request access or deletion, opt out of “sale/share” (we do not sell or share for cross-context advertising), and non-discrimination for exercising rights.
  • Email: unsubscribe anytime via the link in any message.
  • Directory businesses: claim, correct, or request removal of your listing. Contact us and we act promptly.

Retention

We keep email/account data while your relationship with us is active and for a reasonable period after; directory data while it’s publicly relevant or claimed; assistant logs for a limited period; and payment records as required by law.

International transfers

We operate from Canada and use US-based service providers, so your information may be processed in Canada and the United States with appropriate safeguards.

Security, children & changes

We use reasonable safeguards and will notify affected people of a breach where required. The Service isn’t directed at children. We may update this policy and will post a new “last updated” date.
